Over three years of pre-gaming for the 2020 presidential election has been distracting and unhelpful. But now we are a week away from the Iowa Caucus … the beginning of the end.

I have danced around this, first because I was educating myself to make a decision. More recently to avoid the trolls both on social media and in the street.

I want to very clear, in November 2020 I will vote for the democratic presidential nominee no matter who. I will not join any “x or bust” or “never x” movement. Not for presidential, not against Trump … it is too important, it is life or death.

On April 28 in the New York primary I will vote for Elizabeth Warren.

There are many reasons, here are some:

Senator Warren talks first and foremost about the issues I care most about, there are too many to list but two are democracy reform and creating an economy and government that works for all of us. These are two issues that are foundational to solve every other issue we face.

And she talks about those issues without condescending to me as the white male candidates do (and many white male non-candidates)

So you understand, I’m not one who wants a woman president above all else. I only supported Hillary Clinton when she became the nominee.

I like that Senator Warren has ideas, policies and plans. I love ideas, I love good policy but an idea and policy cannot happen without a plan.

Having a plan is organizing.

I know Senator Warren is not perfect…no candidate is…none of us are. Some of her policies may need revision, addition and a democratic majority senate. But I am an indivisible and I know that is where we the people come in…to hold her and all electeds to account on all issues.

Bernie is my second choice but the stuff that has gone on over the last few weeks and the behavior of just a small handful of his supporters deeply disheartens me. I believe, as I think most of us do, that we are in this together and we all need to start acting that way.

I support Elizabeth Warren because she prioritizes foundational issues core to our now and our future…democracy reform and creating an economy + government that works for all. She has ideas, policies, PLANS. Ideas and good policy cannot happen without a plan…having a plan is organizing.
