Housing is a human right.

As a candidate for NY State Assembly in District 37, I have signed the Homes Guarantee pledge.

92,000+ people are homeless in NY state. That doesn’t include those who are couchsurfing, doubled up in apartments, or jailed because of poverty. If just 1% of this number was homeless due to a natural disaster we would have a state of emergency with all resources available and. all hands on deck.

Climate Change is going to put us in a constant state of natural disaster that will most directly hurt communities already devastated by injustice and poverty. We need to enact aggressive housing and climate policies centered on longterm solutions and delivering justice.

District 37 is home to the largest public housing community in our country. We should be celebrating this and investing in and expanding public housing — not disinvesting and privatizing!

In 2019 we fought and won major rent reforms and tenant protections. We will do more but developers and real estate interests have outsized💰say in our democracy. I will not take their money and if elected I will fight to get their money out of our democracy for good and to make sure they pay taxes not get tax breaks.
